El Salvador Eco Cafe
|
We import this coffee directly from the coffee estate in El Salvador. The estate where Eco Cafe is produced is located in the hillside of Santa Ana volcano, about 3000 ft above sea level. Eco cafe plants grow in the shade of native trees including: ceibas, chilamates, pepper trees, balsamos, cedros, conacastes and fruit trees including: mangos, avocados, several varieties of plantain and banana trees.
Tim Hirsch has recently published an article in BBC News that identifies the importance of coffee farms like this one in preserving wildlife in El Salvador. more
The new crop is less tart than last year's. It has a lovely velvety body while being bright and clean. It is slightly sweet with a fruity auroma tending towards date. Anelena and Roberto, the proprietors of Eco Cafe, have done it again!
